Cette étude avait pour but de caractériser l'écologie des herbiers de Zostera noltii dans le Bassin d'Arcachon. Ces phanérogames marines, qui appartiennent à la famille des Potamogétonacées, occupent dans la Baie environ les 3/4 de la superficie des zones intertidales. Malgré leur étendue et l'importance écologique qui en résulte, ces herbiers n'avaient jusque là fait l'objet d'aucune étude quantitative. Cette thèse traite des populations de zostères (répartition, croissance, production et recyclage) ainsi que la macrofaune qui leur est associée (variations spatiales et temporelles de la nature et de la structure des peuplements animaux). Outre cette approche descriptive, ces travaux ont également permis de quantifier la participation de ces herbiers au bilan de la matière organique dans le Bassin d'Arcachon. |

This study aimed to characterize the ecology of the seagrass Zostera noltii in the Bassin d'Arcachon. These seagrasses, which belong to the family of Potamogetonaceae occupy in the Bay for about three quarters of the area of intertidal areas. Despite their large size and ecological importance, this grass never had previously be studied. This thesis deals with eelgrass populations (distribution, growth, production and recycling) and the macrofauna associated with them (spatial and temporal variation of the nature and structure of animal populations). In addition to this descriptive approach, this work has also helped to quantify the participation of seagrass beds on the balance sheet of the organic matter in the Arcachon basin. |
