Résumé en anglais Because of the low number of currently available toxicity tests for marine environment, the authors describe an experimental procedure using a marine copepod : Tigriopus brevicornis. This method can be used to quantify the 50 % inhibition of larval production or growth. The variability in controls larval production reaches about 9 %.
The toxicity of two contaminants : tributyltin (TBTF) and cadmium chloride (CdCl2) was determined with this method and the 50 % decreases in larval production are respectively 1,4 µg/l (TBTF) and 61 µg/l (Cd++).
