AB L'objectif de réalisation de pièces en matériaux composites n'est naturellement pas de créer des conditions de parachèvement par outils coupants, néanmoins après fabrication, de nombreux éléments en composites nécessitent des opérations d'usinage en perçage ou fraisage. Usiner un matériau composite c'est avant tout couper les fibres de ce matériau et donc entraîner un risque d'endommagement au voisinage de la zone usinée. Il est donc important d'étudier la nature des défauts introduits lors de l'usinage par perçage et fraisage, ainsi que l'importance de leur étendue. 
AB While machining is generally to be avoided in the fabrication of components with composite materials, nevertheless many parts require some machining, drilling or milling after moulding. Machining of these materials involves the risk of damage in the machined region. It is therefore important to study the possible sources of damage and to quantify their extent for different drilling and milling operations.
