AB Though the absorption of dietary lipids is much slower in S. gairdneri than in mammals, the mechanism does not differ fundamentally. The long chain fatty acids resulting from intraluminal hydrolysis are esterified by the epithelial cells and transferred as VLDL-like particles and chylomicrons to lymph. The size of granules depends on the nature of the ingested fatty acids. The intracellular stages of this lipoprotein synthesis are defined.
