Unfortunately, these shrimp were carriers of at least three pathogenic viruses. Infectious Hypodermal and Hematopoietic Necrosis (IHHN) virus, Hepatopancreatic Parvo-like Virus (HPV) and Monodon-type Baculovirus (MBV) caused cross-infections among both imported and local penaeids. Since these episodes, general disinfection operations were carried out and quarantine measures were strictly enforced for any newcomers.
