Résumé en anglais Sampling of a population of D. Labrax was one with spear diving catches. Morphometric and meristic data were used to calculate a biometric index. This index showed that all the bass of the Sete area belong to Dicentrarchus labrax, even if they were black spotted on the upper part of the body. Morphology was slightly different according to sex, but sex determination was not always possible using morphometric data. This inshore population shows some morphological characteristics (branchiospine and lateral line scale number) different from the data collected on the same sp along the Maroc Atlantic coast by Gravier, 1961.
