AB Farley rapportait pour la première fois en 1972 la présence de particules virales de type herpès chez des huîtres américaines adultes, Crassostrea virginica. Depuis, ce pathogène a pu être détecté chez différentes espèces de bivalve marin, ces descriptions étant le plus souvent associées à des mortalités massives. A ce jour, des virus de type herpès ont été détectés chez les espèces suivantes: C gigas, Ostrea edulis, 0. angasi, Tiostrea chilensis, Ruditapes decussatus, R. philippinarum et plus récemment Pecten maximus.
AB In 1972, Farley reported the presence of herpes-type viral particles in adult American oysters (Crassostrea virginica) for the first time. Since then, this pathogen has been detected in various marine bivalve species, usually associated with massive mortality events. To date, herpes-type viruses have been detected in the following species: C gigas, Ostrea edulis, O. angasi, Tiostrea chilensis, Ruditapes decussatus, R. philippinarum and most recently, Pecten maximus.
