AB Les Laminaires ont la propriété de pouvoir reconstituer, dans certaines conditions. leur lame sectionnée : c'est le phénomène de régénération. L'explication de ce phénomène est. en théorie, assez simple: la zone méristématique qui assure le développement de l'algue se situe entre la partie inférieure de la lame et la partie supérieure du stipe (fig. 1) ; elle permet ainsi une croissance apicale du stipe et une croissance basale de la lame: si l'on coupe l'algue au niveau du stipe. la zone méristématique, appelée en raison de sa position « zone stipofrondale », disparaît avec la partie sectionnée et aucune régénération n'est possible; par contre, si l'on sectionne l'algue à un niveau quelconque de la lame. en prenant garde de ne pas léser la zone de croissance, la régénération se produit. AB Laminaria have the capacity to reconstitute, in specific conditions, their cut blade: it is the regeneration phenomenon. The explanation of this phenomenon is, in theory, quite simple: the merismatic region where the alga grows is located between the lower part of the blade and the upper part of the stipe (fig. 1), thus enabling the apical growth of the stipe and the basal growth of the blade: if one cuts the alga at stipe level, the merismatic region, named because of its "stipofrondal area" position, disappears with the cut part and no regeneration is possible; on the contrary, if one cuts the alga anywhere else at blade level, not hurting the growth area, regeneration occurs.
