AB Depuis 1967, les pêcheurs de thon blanc participent aux recherches menées sur la pêcherie en consignant leurs observations sur des carnets de pêche. Ce travail est conduit sous l'égide du Comité interprofessionnel du thon et les études ont été menées de 1967 à 1969 sous l'impulsion du regretté professeur POSTEL, puis reprises en 1969 par le CNEXO. La pêcherie est exploitée principalement par «ne flottille de 300 thoniers français et 1 000 thoniers espagnols qui pratiquent la pêche à la ligne traînante et la pêche à l'appât vivant. Elle se déroule durant la saison estivale dans une zone comprise entre Gibraltar et les Acores, dès juin, et se termine le long du plateau continental franco-irlandais en fin septembre. AB Since 1967, albacore fishermen have been involved in the studies on fishery, recording their observations in fishing logbooks. This work is conducted under the authority of the Interprofessional tuna committee and studies have been carried out from 1967 to 1969 driven by the late professor Postel, and then taken over in 1969 by the CNEXO. The fishery is exploited mainly by a fleet of 300 French tuna boats and 1 000 Spanish tuna boats using mobile lines and living bait. It occurs over the summer season, from June in an area comprised between the Gibraltar straight and the Azores Islands until the end of September along the Franco-Irish continental shelf.
