AB Les résultats de plongées profondes effectuées dans les canyons des Stoechades et de Saint-Tropez sont présentés; ils permettent de proposer un schéma de l'histoire géologique de cette partie de la marge méditerranéenne : dépôt d'une épaisse série terrigène vers la limite de l'Oligocène et du Miocène; érosion de ces dépôts au Messinien avec creusement subaérien des canyons; nouvelle subsidence avec sédimentation marine Pliocène et Quaternaire; influence des courants sur la distribution de ces dépôts. AB The results of 14 aives made with the submersible Cyana in the lower parts of the Stoechades and Saint-Tropez canyons, between 2,400 and 1,500 m, are compatible with the following geological history of the French Mediterranean margin: a thick terrigeneous sedimentary series was deposited near the Oligo-Miocene transition; the canyons were eroded subaerially within this series during the Messinian; the morphology of the canyons has been maintained since by active bottom currents and gravity tectonics on the bordering cliffS.
