Jusqu'à présent, les maladies bactériennes affectant les Crustacés en eau libre ou en élevage se limitaient, pour l'essentiel, à la maladie des homards (Gaffkemia) causée par le microcoque Gaffkya homari (HITCHENER et SNIESZKO, 1947), et aux maladies de l'exosquelette (Shell disease ou Brown spots disease, en anglais) provoquées par des bacilles chitinodestructeurs et observées chez plusieurs crabes (GORDON, 1966 ; ROSEN, 1967), chez le homard (HESS , 1937) et chez la crevette Palaemon serratus (ANDERSON et CONROY, 1968). AB In Japan, during the five first years, some penaeid shrimp farms have been frequently and heavily damaged by some bacteria and fungi attacks. Until now, these bacterial diseases affecting wild and cultivated crustaceans were only limited, for the most part, to the lobster disease (Gaffkemia) caused by the micrococcus Gaffkya homari (Hitchener and Snieszko, 1947), and to the exoskeleton diseases (Shell disease or Brown spots disease) caused by chitino destructor bacilluses and observed in different crabs (Gordon, 1966; Rosen, 1967), in the lobster (Hess, 1937) and in the shrimp Palaemon serratus (Anderson and Conroy, 1968).
