The aquaculture methods worked out in Japan with japanese scallop Patinopecten yessoensis may find an application for black scallop (Chlamys varia) and queen scallop (Chlamys opercularis) that live in our coastal waters. The studies carried out till now, mainly in Brest and Quiberon were especially devoted to spat collection. Material and methods similar to those used for scallop, Pecten maximus, were improved to handle several thousands of collectors. The methods offorecasting settlement periods were also improved. |
