AB Le but de ce travail était de mettre en place une méthode d’analyse d’image utilisant le ZooScan et sa suite logicielle associée pour le traitement en routine des échantillons mésozooplanctoniques prélevés lors des campagnes IBTS (International Bottom Trawl Survey ou campagne internationale au chalut de fond) hivernales. Cette méthode a été utilisée pour identifier, caractériser et cartographier la distribution des communautés mésozooplanctoniques en Manche orientale et au sud de la Mer du Nord. Le fichier d’apprentissage a permis d’obtenir une bonne identification des principaux taxons zooplanctoniques (i. e. copépodes, malacostracés, ichtyoplancton, appendiculaires, chaetognathes…). Cependant, pour des niveaux plus spécifiques, la validation de l’identification par un expert en taxonomie est nécessaire. La distribution spatiale de cinq assemblages a été mise en évidence et caractérisée avec les espèces indicatrices, les assemblages phytoplanctoniques correspondants et les paramètres hydrobiologiques.
AB This study was aimed to develop an image analysis procedure using ZooScan an dits dedicated softwares for routine treatment of mesozooplankton samples from winter IBTS (International Bottom Trawl Survey) and use this procedure in order to identify, characterize and cartography mesozooplanctonic communities range in eastern English Channel and in the southern North Sea. The learning set obtained with the threatment of samples from winter 2008 allows a good autimatical recognition (above 85%) for main mésozooplancton taxa (i. e. copepoda, malacostraca, ichthyoplankton, appendicularia, chaetognatha…) For a deeper specific identification, a validation procedure by a taxonomic expert is needed to improve and correct identification. The spatial distribution of five mésozooplancton assemblages was identified and characterized with indicator species, corresponding phytoplankton assemblages and hydrobiological parameters.
