AB In 2021, the calculation of the DCE "Intertidal macroalgae" indicator made it possible to classify the FRFC11 "Basque Coast" water body as "Moderate" for this parameter. We observed a seasonal variation with a “Good status” in spring and a “Moderate status” in autumn. For the second application of the extended protocol to meet the needs of the MSFD (double sampling in spring and autumn, consideration of fauna in the quadrats and increase of taxonomic identification level), these results confirm those obtained in 2018. These results are presented through the Ics indicator (Community Structure Indicator) but are not noted at this stage. The absence of canopy in the intertidal zone and the biogeography for this body of water are two aspects that must be considered in the scales that will be applied to assess the conservation status of intertidal habitats.
