Branchial Rickettsiales-like infection associated with a mass mortality of sea scallop Pecten maximus

A branchial infection of Pecten maximus is histologically and ultrastructurally described. Gill epithelial cells were heavily infected with colonies of procaryotes, believed ta belong to the Rickettsiales.
