Une analyse sectorielle a fourni l'occasion d'interpréter le fonctionnement des industries de transformation des produits de la mer -ou Industries Halio-Alimentaires (IHA)- en Europe au regard de récentes théories économiques. La question centrale consiste à déterminer comment les modalités de l'intégration européenne appliquées aux IHA peuvent infléchir la tendance à la mondialisation et réguler en partie le processus de spécialisation de ces industries dans la CEE. Dans le prolongement d'une base historique, le résultat de la confrontation entre l'action internationalisée des firmes et l'encadrement institutionnel au sens large, défini au niveau national ou supranational, forge ainsi la spécialisation des IHA européennes, et partant, l'identité d'un méso-système halio-alimentaire au sein de l'espace communautaire

A sectoral analysis allows the operation of the Seafood Processing Industry (SPI) to be understood in the context of recent economic theories. The central question is to estimate how the process of European integration can affect both the tendency towards globalization and the specialization of SPI in the EC. Set in an historical context, the interaction between the international action of firms ansd the institutional framework, defined broadly at the national and supranational level, determines the nature of specialization of the european SPI and thence the definition of a Seafood Processing Meso-System within the European Community.
