Shipboard ADCP data : from acquisition to standardization and distribution in European RI

Research Vessels are equipped with Shipboard Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (SADCP) and acquire underway ocean current measurements. CASCADE software is used by scientists for their research and in an operationnal context by the SISMER Data Center to compile, correct and qualify these SADCP data. The Octopus software has been developed to convert all French SADCP data issued from CASCADE to the standardized SeaDataNet NetCDF format. Standardized metadata are then created to disseminate these standardized SADCP’s files to SeaDataNet research infrastructure. They will be harvested by an EuroGOSHIP portal to allow current data visualization.
